Duckgame is my first game project, developed in GameMaker Language. This project taught me the foundations of gameplay programming, game loops, and system design.
I started making Duck Game when I was 11 and finished it at 13. It was the first game I ever made, built in GameMaker almost entirely through the raw code editor rather than the drag-and-drop tools. For an 11-year-old who had never programmed before, that meant figuring out a lot of things the hard way.
The game has two modes. Local multiplayer lets two players share a keyboard and try to beat each other, with chained explosions, power-ups and environmental hazards to keep things chaotic. Singleplayer pits the player against AI across a normal mode and an infinite waves mode with a kill counter.
I'm still fond of it. It's not technically impressive by any measure, but it's where I started. And as a bonus, it's pretty fun to play with a friend locally.
